USDT One Way Convert FAQ

USDT Convert lets you convert a deposited USDT balance into USDC. The conversion runs in one direction only, and it is not applied for you: a deposited USDT balance stays as USDT until you convert it yourself. This article covers how the conversion works, where a deposited balance sits, and what to check when a balance is not usable.

What is USDT Convert?

USDT Convert lets eligible users deposit USDT into OKX and convert it, one time, into USDC. Conversion only runs in one direction: USDT into USDC.

Who can use USDT Convert?

Users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), with access to OKX through the web platform or the app.

From which date can USDT be converted to USDC?

17 July, 2026.

Does this new feature reopen USDT trading on OKX in Europe?

No. USDT Convert does not reopen USDT trading, and it doesn't let users hold USDT as an investment on OKX in Europe. Deposits accepted through this feature are for conversion purposes only.

How do I deposit USDT so it can be converted?

Which network should I choose when depositing USDT?

Do I need to convert deposited USDT myself?

Yes. A deposited USDT balance stays as USDT in your account until you convert it into USDC through Convert. The conversion doesn't happen automatically, and leaving the balance untouched doesn't convert it later.

Can I trade USDT on OKX in Europe?

No. USDT isn't available to trade on OKX for users residing in the European Economic Area. Deposits are accepted solely so they can be converted to USDC.

How does converting USDT into USDC work?

What are the steps to convert USDT into USDC?

Deposit USDT into your account and wait until the deposit is credited to your balance. Open Convert, select the deposited USDT as the asset you're converting from and USDC as the asset you're converting into, enter the amount, then review the quoted rate and the amount you'll receive. Confirm only after checking the preview, because a completed conversion can't be reversed.

Can I convert USDC back into USDT?

No. USDT Convert only supports converting USDT into USDC. There's no reverse conversion from USDC back into USDT on OKX Europe.

What happens if I change my mind after converting?

The conversion cannot be reversed. Confirm the amount before completing the conversion.

Why can't I see my deposited USDT in Convert?

A deposit appears in the conversion flow once it's credited and once it's held in the account the flow reads from. Check the deposit status first, then check where the balance sits: an asset can be in your funding account, in your trading account, in an Earn subscription, or committed to an open order. Move the balance to the account the conversion flow uses, then open Convert again.A credited deposit is not evidence that an asset can be traded or converted, so check the conversion flow itself rather than inferring it from the deposit record.

What should I do if my balance shows but I can't use it?

Compare your total balance with your available balance first. A balance committed to an open order, an Earn subscription, margin, or a running bot is still part of your account but isn't free to convert, so release the commitment and retry. If the balance is free and the action still fails, record the exact error message, the asset, the amount, and the time, then contact support with those details instead of repeating the attempt.

What happens to the USDC after the conversion?

What can I do with the USDC I receive?

USDC received through the conversion is credited to your account balance and behaves like any other USDC balance you hold: it isn't marked, locked, or restricted because it came from a conversion. To see which products accept it right now, open the product you want to use and check the assets offered in that flow.

Do I need to deposit USDC separately to trade with it?

No. USDC received through USDT conversion is usable after being converted via the Convert feature.

What if my USDT is on another platform?

Can I convert USDT that I hold on another platform?

Yes, once it's in your OKX account. Withdraw the USDT from the other platform to your OKX deposit address, using the same network on both sides, wait for the deposit to be credited, then convert it into USDC through Convert.

I'm not located in the European Economic Area (EEA). Can I use this function?

No. This USDT Convert function is currently only available to users in the EEA on OKX's web platform and app.
