My account says "We need to know more about you." What should I do?
If your account shows We need to know more about you, here's what to check. This request asks you to confirm how you use your account, where the money or crypto used on OKX came from, how you accumulated your personal wealth, or other information shown in the task. It's different from confirming your identity and doesn't by itself mean that you've done anything wrong.
Where do I find this request, and what do the task statuses mean?
Open the banner or task on the OKX homepage, Identity verification page, Task center, in-app notification, or official email. What you do next depends on the task status:
Not started or incomplete: answer every required question and upload the requested document.
Submitted or under review: don't repeatedly upload the same files when no new action is shown. Monitor the task page and registered email.
Returned or rejected: open the reason, correct the specific issue, and submit a new or updated document.
No task is visible: check the homepage, Identity verification page, Task center, notifications, and spam folder. If the account still shows an outstanding requirement, contact OKX Support and provide the exact page message and screenshot.
Note: uploading the same document again doesn't speed up the review.
How do I choose the right Source of Funds (SoF) and Source of Wealth (SoW) ?
Source of funds means where the specific money or crypto used on OKX came from, such as salary, business income, investment returns, a loan, an asset sale, a gift, inheritance, or a transfer from your own exchange account or wallet.Source of wealth means how you accumulated most of your overall personal wealth or net assets over time, such as employment income, business ownership, investments, inheritance, or gifts. For source of funds, select the recent and main source of the money used on OKX. For source of wealth, select the source representing the largest part of your personal wealth. The answers may be the same, but they don't have to be.Note: if a Singapore page offers "My source of wealth is the same as my source of funds," select it only when the same genuine activity explains both. If the sources differ, select them separately. If the task asks for expected deposit volume, choose the range that genuinely reflects your expected future activity. The latest submitted answer replaces the earlier expected-deposit information.
Can I use company documents for this request?
Company sales, customer payments, factory receipts, invoices, and company bank statements normally explain the company's activity. They don't by themselves show how money became your personal income or wealth.Select the source that matches how the money reached you personally:
If the company pays you salary or commission, select Salary or Employment income and provide personal evidence of those payments.
If your wealth comes from owning the company, select Business ownership and provide ownership records plus evidence showing how value or income reached you.
If money was given by a spouse, family member, or friend without repayment, select Inheritance, grant or gift where available and provide the transfer record and explanation.
What documents can I provide for this request?
Use the section below that matches the source you selected.
What can I provide for salary or employment income?
Provide recent payslips, a personal bank statement showing salary or commission credits, a salary certificate, or an employment letter showing your name, employer, position, and compensation.
What can I provide for business ownership or business income?
Provide business-registration or ownership records together with a business bank statement, tax return, audited financial statement, accountant letter, dividend or profit-distribution record, or evidence showing how business income reached you. A business license alone may show that the business exists but not the source or receipt of the funds.
What can I provide for investment returns?
Provide a brokerage or investment statement, dividend or interest notice, tax record, bank statement showing the proceeds, and a transfer record where required.
What can I provide for a transfer from another exchange or self-custody wallet?
Provide evidence of account or wallet ownership and transaction history showing the transfer to OKX. Include the platform name, bound name/email/phone, wallet address, TxID, asset, amount, and date where available. A TxID alone may not prove ownership or the original source of the assets.
What can I provide for mining, staking, airdrops, or on-chain rewards?
Provide the platform, pool, dashboard, payout, or on-chain record and evidence that the assets reached your OKX account. Equipment receipts may support a mining explanation but don't replace payout and transfer records.
What can I provide for the sale of property, a vehicle, or another asset?
Provide a completed sale agreement, invoice, receipt, legal letter, or another official sale record, plus a bank statement or payment record showing receipt of the proceeds. An unsigned agreement or payment record that doesn't explain what was sold may not be sufficient.
What can I provide for a gift or family support?
Provide the transfer record and a declaration stating the exact amount, date, reason, frequency, donor's full name, and relationship to you. For a transfer made through a payment app, use the official electronic receipt when available.
What can I provide for inheritance?
Provide a will, grant of probate, inheritance certificate, estate-distribution statement, tax record, or another official legal document, together with evidence showing that you received the funds.
What can I provide for a loan or credit?
Provide the signed loan agreement or account statement showing your name, lender, amount, date received, and repayment terms, plus evidence of receipt. A credit-card statement alone may not be enough, and a loan that prohibits digital-asset or investment use cannot support that activity.
What can I provide for government benefits, pension, settlement, or insurance payout?
Provide the official benefit/pension statement, government letter, settlement or court record, insurance payout letter, or bank statement showing the payment. The document should identify you, the provider, amount, reason, and date.
How recent and how clear does my document need to be?
Unless the task or entity-specific section states otherwise, source-of-funds documents should generally be issued within:
6 months for EEA accounts
3 months for non-EEA accounts
Note: the task page is definitive. Tax returns, sale agreements, inheritance records, and other event-based documents may have a different period.Submit a complete, readable, unlocked original PDF, scan, or clear photo. Don't crop names, headers, dates, amounts, signatures, stamps, transaction details, or page numbers. Screenshots are accepted only when the task allows them for that document type and they clearly show ownership and activity.
Why was my document rejected for this request?
We may return a document when:
it's unrelated to the selected type
we can't confirm ownership
pages or information are missing
details are blurry
salary, employer, or source information is absent
the selected source doesn't match the document
the file is password-protected
the document appears edited
official authentication is missing
the document is older than the required period
Correct the stated issue rather than uploading the same unchanged file.
What applies if my account is verified in Argentina?
Documents should generally be issued within these periods:
Document | Issued within |
Employment certificate, ARCA/AFIP tax-registration certificate | 60 days |
Payslips, bank statements, investment statements, benefit statements, loan records | 3 months |
Income-tax returns | 12 months |
Note: event-based documents must clearly show ownership, entitlement, payment, and receipt.
How long does the review take, and can I still use my account?
Review time depends on the information, document quality, and whether additional checks are required. Complete any new task shown on the page. Available trading, deposit, or withdrawal functions depend on the current account status and can't be bypassed while a required task remains incomplete. Your recorded balance doesn't disappear because the review is pending. If you still can't complete the task after correcting the stated issue, contact OKX Support and include a screenshot of the message shown on the task page.
